Daniel Van Zant is a 4th year PhD candidate in computational neuroscience at Florida Atlantic University and recipient of the National Institute of Health National Research Service Award.

He pioneers nature-inspired approaches to augmenting human intelligence, with the goal of making AI systems that feel natural and essential to knowledge work.

Daniel is interested in ensuring that as AI capabilities expand, they do so in service of amplifying human expertise rather than diminishing it. An avid Everglades camper and sci-fi enthusiast, he has always been interested in bridging the gap between biological intelligence and artificial systems. Daniel actively contributes to the ekkolápto interdisciplinary research institute.
